Keweenaw Wilderness Pendant

This one-of-a-kind wilderness pendant is a 36-hour, hand-crafted piece of Keweenaw-inspired artwork, sculpted entirely around the rugged beauty of Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. Made from pure silver with hand-worked copper elements, the pendant depicts a living wilderness scene in remarkable three-dimensional detail.

At the heart of the pendant are copper waterfalls, cascading through the landscape and becoming the focal point of the scene. A salmon is captured leaping upward through the falls, representing the powerful connection between the Keweenaw’s waterways and the wildlife that depends upon them. On either side, towering pine trees frame the waterfall, their branches and bark individually textured to create depth and the feeling of standing deep within a northern forest.

Rising behind the falls is the Keweenaw mountain landscape, giving the scene a sense of distance and scale. The layered composition brings together mountain, forest, water, and wildlife in a single piece, creating a miniature wilderness carved into metal.

The combination of silver and copper gives the pendant a naturally rugged character. The warm copper of the falls and central landscape contrasts beautifully against the silver trees and surrounding terrain, while the detailed textures catch the light from different angles. Every surface contributes to the impression of a northern wilderness shaped by water, rock, forest, and time.

The pendant required approximately 36 hours of hands-on craftsmanship, with the intricate trees, waterfall, salmon, mountain landscape, textures, and fine details carefully worked into the piece. Rather than simply depicting the Keweenaw, it is intended to capture the spirit of the Keweenaw wilderness in wearable form.

It is a small landscape with a big story — mountains behind the falls, ancient forests surrounding the water, and a salmon fighting its way upstream through the heart of it all.
